However, this city, just like any other across the globe, has its shortcomings. Not all of its neighborhoods were created equal.

Downtown Miami
If you live in Downtown Miami, you probably love standing on your balcony and enjoying the picture-perfect view. The Miami skyline, breath-taking vistas, and the Biscayne Bay are right in front of you. As you sip a warm cup of coffee, you can see that Miami is a city of greatness, and you plan to marvel in that for generations.
But then…
When night falls, the peace you enjoyed during the day is overrun by the thumping, pounding bass from the nearest club. You proceed to lock yourself in your condo to protect your eardrums. But still, the noise becomes too much to handle. This is the life of the residents of Downtown Miami.
Community groups and residents have gathered on several occasions to complain about noise coming from all of the nightclubs located in the area. But, the patrons of the clubs won, and will continue to dance the night away to loud, thumping music.
With all the booming music that characterizes the nightlife of downtown Miami, this area makes it to the top of our list of the noisiest neighborhoods in Miami.
Brickell
From the outside, Brickell seems like a serene neighborhood. But as they say, all that glitters is not gold. Inside the glittering gates of this area lies thudding noise that has been a concern of homeowners for years.
You retire to your bed and enter the land of sweet dreams. But then, you’re abruptly awoken by loud music from nightclubs nearby nightclubs. If you’re sensitive to this noise, you probably won’t be sleeping on the weekends in neighborhood number two of Miami’s noisiest neighborhoods.
Although there is a law in place that prohibits this clubs from playing music that can be heard from over 100 feet away, this rule seems to fall on deaf ears, even as residents keep sending petitions to the Miami police department.
However, this is not the only source of noise that has been reported by the Miami Homeowners association. The sound of hundreds of planes coming from the Miami International airport has been a major cause of concern for the residents. The unending noises in Brickell earns the city second place on our list of the noisiest neighborhoods in Miami.
Overtown
Overtown is located northwest of Downtown Miami. This is a neighborhood that is always full of life, with booming economic activities and attractive sceneries. Since it is located close to the Miami River, it has gained a reputation as a recreational hub in Miami and beyond. It has also gained a reputation as one of Miami’s noisiest neighborhoods.
But as the area gains unwavering fame and as more structure sprout, residents have been forced to accept the resulting new way of life. According to the Miami Herald, various hangout spots have pooped up in Overtown. Even though they are making the neighborhood busier and more successful economically, some spots, such as the Wharf, have been met with criticism over “ridiculously loud noise.”
Some residents told the Miami Herald that they are not opposed to new developments in the area. It is the super loud music that has been introduced that is bothering residents.
Alex Mantecon, who owns one of these hang-outs, has promised to fix this issue. Even though he endeavors to become a good neighbor, this has not been achieved yet.
Apart from these joints, Overtown’s other sources of noise include the hooting of partiers, construction, and sirens.
Model city
The fact that model city, a.k.a. liberty city is close to downtown Miami says a lot about its noise level. This neighborhood is characterized by noise which emanates from residential areas, railroads, and other entertainment. In some cases, dwellers are forced to cap their ears as they run for cover due to noise from heavy gunfire.
South Pointe
This neighborhood is probably the one that has taken the worst hit from noise pollution over the years. According to the Miami New Times, noise became a major problem in this area which prompted the ban of new nightclubs by the Miami Beach Commission. However, this step seems not to have solved the issue more than a decade later.
The neighborhood is characterized by a host of nightclubs that play ceaseless music throughout the night. Also by youths with motorcycles that are fitted with ground-shaking mufflers. Not to mention the noise that comes from sirens and railroads!
Miami is typically seen as a city of glamorous beaches, palm trees, and cool breezes. However, noise is among the top disruptors of quality of life in this city. Most people seem initially unconcerned about this issue until they find themselves in one of Miami’s noisiest neighborhoods. Sirens wake them up at the darkest hour of the night, booming car radios pass in front of their gate, and low-flying aircrafts shutter their window panes. Suddenly, they wish they’d moved to an abandoned shack in the middle of the woods instead.
The neighborhoods mentioned above are the noisiest neighborhoods in Miami, but it seems noise is a catastrophe affecting Miami as a whole. But to all the young people looking for a fun place to live, this city is your oyster!
